FUND RAISING NEWSLETTER SEPT 2011
Welcome to the fourth edition of the 1st Birchington Air Scout Group Fundraising newsletter.
Buy now you will be fully aware of the Promise Auction we are holding on Sat 17th September in the Baptist Church Hall in Station Road starting at 2pm.
We are overwhelmed with the Response to this Auction with nearly every parent and leader providing a promise. The promises range from a cake to 5 driving lessons. Hopefully all the bid sheets will be in this weekend (sat 10th Sept) and we can start sorting them to find what the opening bid will be on Saturday 17th when we start the auction. There is no entry fee to the auction but we will be selling refreshments and holding a raffle and tombola. So far we have help from the following people. Helen Cole, Rachel Saint, Julie Tritton, Raksha, Mowgli and Charlie. If you could offer your help on the day we would be very grateful. As we have never done this kind of thing we do not really know how it will pan out but obviously people will need to be given numbers on entry to make a bid and there needs to be somewhere where they can recieve their promise and make arrangements for payment.
OUR NEXT EVENTS.
Sat 1st October STREET COLLECTION. The board will be going up in the scout hut after the Promise Auction to put you names down for 1hour tin rattling in Station Road. Although some people are a bit dubious at first when they do their hour they say they have had a nice time chatting to the local people and the hour flys by. We expect every Beaver and Cub to take part in this event. As we say it is only one hour and it is an opportunity to do something on a one to one with your child.
PHIL THE BAG Bags will be going out anytime now to fill with old clothes, towels, curtains, shoes, belts etc etc. We made loads of money last time so please please ask friends neighbours family to help you with this one. Bags must be returned on Sat 8th October between 10am and 2pm to the scout hut. Not before or after please. If anyone needs bags collected please let us know and we can arrange this.
JUST FOR FUN LINE DANCE Friday 4th November at Birchington Primary School. Please come along to this fun evening and have a go at line dancing. You dont have to know how to do it as Theo our line dancing instructor will tell you what to do as you go along. Tickets are £3 each and will be on sale from leaders at Beavers Cubs and Scouts. It is a bring your own food and drink evening to keep the cost down. There will of course be a raffle on the night.
A NOTE FROM RAKSHA.
Depending on how well supported the above events are will determin how long I am prepared to continue fundraising for Beavers, Cubs and Scouts. I would appreciate more help from parents running the events and more enthusiasm in support of events from certain parents. As we remind you - its your children we are raising money for.
The monies from the above events will be used to buy pop up tents for beavers, camp cooking equipment, have the marquee re proofed, fill some gas bottles, buy camp hi vis scarves, and other items to enable the young people to enjoy camping in a safe and healthy way..
WHO TO CONTACT
Many of you will have already been approached by our Group Chairperson Rachel Saint who is a cub mum and can be contacted at rachelsaint@me.com.or contact the fund raising coordinator Raksha at raksha@gmail.com
