Cubs took 2nd at Swimming Gala - 01-03-2009Birchington Cubs took 2nd place in the Thanet Swimming Gala on Saturday 28th February. We had a full team and a swimmer in every race. Poor old Joel being our only 8 year old was in the water more than he was out but managed to gain 2 firsts and a second in his year group. Adam came 3rd in the diving and 2nd in the life saving back stroke. Our relay teams gained a 2nd in both of the races. Freestyle Joel, Josh, Ross and Scott and Breast Joel, Torran, Adam and Scott. Well done to Thomas, Ben and Peter for taking part in their races. We enterered as a team and the support the cubs gave each other was fantastic. Well done guys. Explorer's Bingo Evening--On Saturday the Spitfires Explorer Section of our group held a bingo evening, an extremely fun evening was had by all with lots of laughs and prizes recieved. Thank you to everyone who supported this fundraising evening with special thanks to Jason Dey who kindly lent and set up a sound system for the evening. The amount raised was £323.50. Due to the fact that the evening was so enjoyable it has been decided to run a further bingo night on Saturday 25th April.
